Review: ★★★ La Clique – Live in Leicester Square

Underbelly’s legendary La Clique live in Leicester Square returns in 2021 bursting with naughtiness, circus, comedy and plenty of sparkles.

Located in an array of Christmas markets in the heart of the West End, the festive spirit is continued inside the circus stage. Acts including, the notable sword swallower and fire breather Heather Holliday and lovable Hula Boy Craig Reid do not fail to provide a fun evening of daring entertainment.

The show is held together by Bernie Dieter through audience interaction and a range of funny original songs. She describes her act as ‘dark, defiant, hilarious, punk, kabarett’ which is certainly true. Clearly a seasoned performer, at times Bernie goes through the motions and the show loses some momentum. However, Bernies original material lands well with the audience, especially her timely songs provide an enjoyable satire.

La Clique is the perfect event for some light relief. An opportunity to let off some steam and have a really fabulous night out. Expect to be amazed, entertained and terrified!
