Danny Mac will play Joe Gillis, opposite the previously announced Ria Jones in the upcoming tour of Sunset Boulevard.
Most recently Danny Mac captured the nation’s hearts and received overwhelming support during his incredible time on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing making it all the way to the final. This month he stars as Gabey in On The Town at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. His other musical theatre credits include Wicked and Legally Blonde.
Ria Jones plays Norma Desmond, the same role as she played in the Coliseum Production due to the indisposition of Glenn Close, who incidentally revived the role on Broadway this year. Jones received rave reviews for her performance at the Coliseum, and has recently starred as Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street at the Theatre Du Chatalet in Paris. In addition, her west end credits include Fantine in Les Miserables, Grizabella in Cats and Florence in Chess.
The production opens at the Leicester Curve and plays at the Edinburgh Playhouse, Newcastle Theatre Royal, Manchester Palace Theatre, Her Majesty’s Theatre Aberdeen, Birmingham Hippodrome, Bord Gais Energy Theatre Dublin, and Milton Keynes Theatre in 2017.
The show then travels to Bristol Hippodrome, Southampton Mayflower Theatre, New Victoria Theatre Woking, Cliffs Pavilion Southend, and The Alhambra Theatre Bradford in 2018, with further cities to be announced in due course.
